2 out of 3....

Guess who needs glasses!
Because of Indi's eye condition called amblioplia my other girls have had to get checked once year until they are 4 or 5. Because it is genetic. We went up to Primary's where their eye doctor is hoping she would get a clean bill of eye health like last year and he would say we were out of the woods. But after she couldn't see a few small things and him grabbing TWO prescription pads I knew it. Indi is of course thrilled and so far Sloane is game for it. But I am having a little hard time. And I KNOW this is nothing to complain about. I told the doctor if this is all of the health issues with my kids they have to deal with...I'LL TAKE IT! Every time you go into Primary Children's you really get your priorities straight with what is important in life.
It is just a little sad for me to cover up their sweet little faces with glasses. You know how you just love to savor their every little expression? Anyway I am not feeling bad for myself...just having a little moment.
Sloane has an asymmetrical astigmatism. An astigmatism is when your cornea is the wrong shape. She was examined a year ago and was fine but in the last year her cornea grew into the wrong shape. The doctor said since we caught it so early that it won't turn into amblioplia...(lazy eye) like Indi has. Only "asymmetrical" astigmatisms turn into amblioplia if untreated. It makes your brain start seeing incorrectly. Then your eye starts to move. But if you get glasses when you are young enough, as you grow your cornea will grow into the correct shape and your brain will learn to see correctly.

Indi has kids eye doctor on her list of "what I want to be when I grow up."

Here are the glasses Sloane picked out immediately and refused every other pair. These pics are taken with my phone so they are slightly distorted. They actually look cuter than this photo. They are funky and of course the most expensive pair in the store. We are planning to look at others but she keep saying she wants the ones that are pink and wound! (round)
The pediatric girl also said she is at a hard age and if they don't love their glasses they have a bad experience, won't wear them and then your screwed. So I don't know how much say I'm going to have.
PS I really appreciate everyone who tells Indi how cute she looks in her glasses. Kids who wear them need to hear it. They start to get comments coming from the other direction in school. So anytime you see a child with glasses. Compliment them!
And it's a good idea to get your kids eyes checked when they are young! Before preschool and kindergarten. Indi had severely bad eye sight and this over paranoid mom didn't have a clue until her eye started to move toward her nose. They don't know any different so they don't know to tell you. And the earlier you catch it the better.

When we got back to my moms Beaux was showing her support. I believe Hayley made them for her. Considering her sisters history she should probably get used to these.

Love the pink and round they are cute! I love how little sis doesn't want to miss out. I can imagine it is hard to do the glasses thing. You are probably worries about broken and lost glasses. That is good that they don't have a problem wearing them. My brother was 2 when he got his glasses and in grade school used them as the coin flip for play ground games. Lenses up or lenses down.

I think Sloane's glasses are soo cute, they totally look like her. Your girls are beautiful with or without glasses. Tyson & Aspen can't wait to see her new addition!!
