Hayley....soon to be a Mrs.

So excited to announce Hayley and JT got engaged on Valentines Day!!
We couldn't be more lucky to have JT in our family. He is truly one of the neatest people I have met. We all love him and are so happy Hayley is marrying someone so wonderful, down to earth and just plain GOOD.
Check out Hayley's blog to see the cute details and her beautiful ring.

Kid Quote

Last night while eating dinner Indi told Beaux that I wanted to name her Ava when she was a baby. Then asked her if she knew that, she said no.
Me: Beaux, do you like the name Ava?
Beaux: NO
Me: You don't?
Beaux: NO!!
Me: Do you want to be Beaux or Ava?
Beaux: Beaux! I don't want to be so FANCY!
She said it so funny! Greg got home soon after and I was still laughing. I told him I guess we got her name right...it only took us 3 weeks.

Kid Quote

I took my jeans out of the dryer, squeezed them on, and began my usual lunges. (in order to get them buttoned) Sloane was watching me and said:
"Why you doing Tai Chi?"
(ohh my gosh, probably one of my favorite quotes)
Then
After church today...
Sloane: Mom, I have a new boy in my class.
Me: Really?
Sloane: Ya...he has a Kuhog.
Me: A what?
Sloane drew a line down the middle of her head. "A Kuhog."
Me: OH, a mohawk.
Sloane: Ya, a mohawk.

President Obama

Barack Obama's hand on the Bible that Abraham Lincoln was sworn in on.
My favorite part.

For family night Monday we talked about the Civil War, Slavery, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. and how it all related to what an amazing election took place. To be honest, it was the first time I had ever talked about race to my children. Like they say...children don't see color. Including mine. I have never wanted to even let them have the idea of thinking that someone could treat or think of someone differently because of the color of their skin. After we talked Indi's eyes lit up and said, "Now I get 'Hairspray!' (the movie) I thought it was so cute.
I of course had to study up on my Civil War knowledge before our lesson. It was neat to study it as an adult, in school..history was not my subject. It really increased my appreciation of this inauguration and what our country has come through. It made Indi able to realize what she was witnessing and I hope she will remember it as she grows up. I actually let her go late to school because I wanted to make sure she saw it. I really feel Obama has inspired America to be better and I hope we all will be. He has a big job ahead of him.
I heard on TV that there was not one arrest among the million plus people who attended yesterday.
Welcome President Obama

1 million pictures to celebrate Sloane's 4th Birthday

Sloane recently turned 4 and her birthday hit me hard. Not to mention looking through pictures for this post. I got a little carried away with the photos but it's because I haven't seen many of these since they were taken. Getting pregnant when Sloane was only 7 months old with Beaux made the next few years a blur. I love having them so close but it is really sad how little I really remember. Anyway back to my Sloane...
HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY SLOANE!!!
Things to know about our Sloane:
1. Sloane has a smile that melts our hearts.
2. Sloane is FUNNY and has a hilarious laugh.
3. Sloane has the biggest heart and the biggest temper. She is the first to melt you and the first to make you want to pull your hair out.
4. Sloane was born 6 weeks early, she weighed 4lbs 15oz but got as little as about 4.5. She lived the first 2 weeks of her life in the hospital getting strong enough to eat on her own. But she was strong in every other way. I came to the hospital one morning and two nurses were trying to put her feeding tube back down her nose(which she pulled out herself). One turned to me and said, "She is a little spitfire!" That nurse was right, she has been one ever since.
5.Her favorite color is purple just like her moms.
6. She is as clumsy as she is athletic.
7. She LOVES chocolate and candy and can find it anywhere.
8. She walks on her tippy toes all day and has the calves to prove it.
9. She has fabulous hair.
10. She loves gymnastics and playing and dancing.
11. She has bawled every night at bedtime for the last 3 weeks saying she hates the wood on her new headboard on her bed. She says she wants it painted pink.
12. As you will see in pictures she falls asleep in the most uncomfortable positions possible.
13. She chews anything and everything rubbery, remote buttons, electric cords, dvd cases...and has done it ever since we can remember.
14. She loves to bring me flowers.
15. She has her own signature pose for pictures.
16. She loves to give kisses and hugs and tell her mom and dad I Love You.
WE LOVE YOU SLOANE!!!!
